Michael Chiew brings to Kiwanis a distinguished, multi-faceted professional background coupled with an exemplary record of service and leadership. Beyond his career achievements, his steadfast dedication to community service is reflected in his extensive contributions to the Kiwanis Malaysia District and the wider Asia-Pacific Region (ASPAC).
With nearly 27 years of devoted Kiwanis service, Michael’s journey began in 1997 as a passionate volunteer before his official induction into the Kiwanis Club of Kuala Lumpur in 1999. Since then, he has served with distinction in numerous leadership roles at both District and ASPAC levels, consistently advancing the organisation’s mission and strengthening its impact. His active participation in Club, District, Regional, and International Conventions has provided him with deep insights into the global reach of Kiwanis and its capacity to drive meaningful, sustainable change. His service extends well beyond national boundaries, contributing significantly to the growth and development of the ASPAC region.
Michael’s dedication and leadership have been recognised through a host of prestigious honours, including Distinguished Club Secretary, Distinguished Club President, Kiwanian of the Year, Distinguished Lieutenant Governor, George F. Hixson Fellow (Diamond Level 2), Walter Zeller Fellow (Diamond), Walter Zeller President Award, Walter Zeller Centennial Award, and the highly esteemed Tablet of Honour. These accolades reflect not only achievement but a lifetime of service guided by principle and passion.
As District Governor of Kiwanis Malaysia District for the 2023–2024 term, Michael provided visionary leadership rooted in unity, collaboration, and service excellence. His tenure was marked by a strong emphasis on leadership development, membership growth, and organisational sustainability—laying a solid foundation for future generations of Kiwanis leaders.
Looking ahead, as Kiwanis Asia-Pacific Chair-Elect, Michael brings a compelling vision for the region: to strengthen one team across many nations, to empower leaders at every level, and to elevate the collective impact of Kiwanis through sustainable growth, innovation, and shared purpose.
