Tadao Oda has been a Kiwanian since he joined the Kiwanis Club of Sendai, Japan on January 1, 1999.
In 2003-04 he served as President of the Kiwanis Club of Sendai as well as Governor-elect of the Japan District. In 2004-05 he went on to serve as Governor of the Japan District.
At the 2008 ASPAC Convention in Jakarta, Indonesia, he was elected 2008-2011 Kiwanis International Trustee. From October 2010 he started serving as a member of the Kiwanis International Task Force on Governing Documents and continues serving as a member of the renamed International Governance Committee.
He also served as 2011-12 ASPAC Vice Chair, 2012-13 ASPAC Chair-elect, and then 2013-14 ASPAC Chair. In July 2014, the 99th Kiwanis International Convention and the 39th ASPAC Convention were held jointly in Tokyo-Chiba.
The Centennial eKiwanis Club was formed during the joint convention initially by the 2014-15 Class of Governors, and he became one of the founding members of the club.
He is a Kiwanis International Foundation Benefactor since April 2008, and a charter Walter Zeller Fellow Diamond level #4 for the Eliminate Project.
He is a mathematician by profession, and is currently Professor Emeritus of Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan.
