The 40th Kiwanis ASPAC convention commenced today 5th March, 2015 at Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga, Philippines. The ASPAC board met in session to discuss the business of the region. International President Dr John Button, President Elect Susan Petrisin and Executive Director Stan Soderstrom represented the KiwanisInternational Board.
A vibrant opening ceremony performed by children of all ages touched the hearts of all present as they danced and sang. The Delore Elementary school children entertained us with music. The Mabalacat City College danced with vibrancy and rhythm and the Philippines National school for the Blind performed.
A welcome Dinner themed "Fiesta Capampangan" entertained us during the evening.
Saturday was the day for Business and elections. Reports were presented by the District Governors and Nations Representatives.
The following officers were elected. Chairman: Chin-Hsiand Lu - Taiwan, Chairman Elect: LEE Kuan Yong - Malaysia, Vice Chairman: Trinidad "Toto" P. Gonzales - Philippines Luzon.
The closing ceremony was a credit to the Organising committee with dance and entertainment. Districts also present cultural "entertainment" during the evening.
A highlight of the evening was when President Dr John Button announced that the Governor of the Province of Pampanga, Lilia G Pineda, had made a donation towards the Eliminate project of $100,000.00 Pesos.
A great convention...... meetings sometimes starting on Filipino time!
