The convention's opening ceremony on August 18th commenced with a warm welcome by a choral performance accompanied by a skilled piano player, while Opawa School students proudly showcased a flag parade. The objects of Kiwanis were eloquently shared in both English and French, emphasizing the global reach and unity of the organization. Guest Speaker Pauline Cotter, Deputy Mayor of Christchurch, expressed her gratitude for Kiwanis' impactful community endeavors.
Furthermore, the convention witnessed the installation of Lieutenant Governors by Governor Designate Danielle Desarmagnac. Danielle's induction as Governor for the 2023-2024 term was carried out by KI Trustee Linda Lawther.
