Honoring Exceptional Mothers: Anugerah Ibu Kiwanis 2024

Exceptional mothers having children with special needs were honored with the Anugerah Ibu Kiwanis 2024 by Kiwanis Malaysia District with the distinguished presence of His Royal Highness, the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah ibni Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, and Her Royal Highness, the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin at the Courtyard by Marriott, Setia Alam, Selangor.

The Anugerah Ibu Kiwanis, initiated in 2001 by the Kiwanis Club of Taman Tun Dr Ismail under Dato’ Fatimah Saad's leadership, was revived in 2024 after a decade-long hiatus. This year awarding ceremony was organized by Kiwanis Malaysia District and elevated to a national level. Nominations were open to Kiwanis centers, clubs, other NGOs, and the public, with assistance from the Social Welfare Department in disseminating nomination forms nationwide.

The Gala Dinner, graced by Kiwanis Malaysia Board of Trustees led by District Governor Michael Chiew, ASPAC Secretary Dató Stewart Labrooy, and corporate sponsors, featured moving performances by the Monocort Band and songstress Ushera.

The highlight of the awarding ceremony was the orchid-adorned award presentation to the deserving mothers, including Puan Sri Hajah Khir Johari, who received special recognition for her longstanding support and generosity towards Kiwanis Malaysia. Each awardee received RM5,000 from Kiwanis Malaysia along with sponsored prizes.
