Babukrishna Karki of Kathmandu, Nepal, was appointed to serve a three-year term as Kiwanis Children’s Fund trustee, beginning October 1, 2022.
Karki is a member of the Kiwanis Clubs of Kathmandu City, Nature Conservation Nepal and Janakpur, where he also served as president. He served as Kiwanis Children’s Fund District Chair in 2020-21 and is a George F. Hixson Fellow. When asked about the importance of the Kiwanis Children’s Fund, Karki emphasized his appreciation for the way the Children’s Fund enhances Kiwanis International’s ability to serve the children of the world.
In addition to his work with Kiwanis International, Karki is involved in rescue and relief service and human-wildlife conflict work. He is also a philanthropy ambassador for the Kathmandu Institute of Child Health.
Karki earned a master’s degree in political science from Tribhuvan University in Nepal. He was formerly a brigadier general in the Nepal Army, and he currently works as a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature. In his free time, he enjoys photography, skydiving, tennis, and nature conservation and tours. His wife, Gita Gurung Karki, is also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Janakpur.
