Evangeline Chan Chiu embarked on her Kiwanis journey in October 2014, marking the beginning of her commitment to volunteerism and community service. Over the years, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership within the organization, earning recognitions and contributing significantly to its growth and impact.

She served as President for two consecutive terms at her mother club, the Kiwanis Club of Geo-Ormoc, from 2016 to 2018. Her leadership during this period was characterized by a commitment to excellence and a drive to create positive change within her community. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, honored with Kiwanis Life Membership in 2018, as she is a fervent advocate of continuous learning and has completed the Kiwanis Amplify modules for the Philippine South District. Her dedication to philanthropy is exemplified by her membership in the George Hixson Fellow and Walter Zeller Fellow of the Kiwanis Children’s Fund.

In 2019, she assumed the role of Division 1B’s first Lieutenant Governor, further expanding her sphere of influence within Kiwanis. A trailblazer, founding the first internet-based club in Southern Philippine District, the Kiwanis Club of Leyte Digital Innovators. Additionally, she introduced the Service Leadership Program for the Aktion Club of Ormoc City and established a Circle K at St. Peter’s College of Ormoc City, serving as the Kiwanis Advisor for both initiatives. Her commitment extends beyond her mother club, encompassing membership, board roles, and advisory positions in clubs such as KC Magandang Gensan, KC Leyte Digital Innovators, and KC Kathmandu Classic. Her diverse engagement showcases her dedication to fostering Kiwanis growth and impact across different regions.

Her contributions at the district level have been equally significant. She was appointed District Advocate for the Philippine South District Kiwanis Children’s Fund in 2019-20 and subsequently assumed the role of District Membership Chair in 2020-21. Her commitment to innovation was evident when she served as the Special Committee Souvenir Chairperson for ASPAC 2021, producing the first digital souvenir book for the event. During the same year, she introduced and launched the Digital Kiwanis Manna Cookbook, a testament to her forward-thinking approach. She further demonstrated her adaptability and innovation by creating the first website in her district, www.kiwanisdigital.com, which serves as a valuable platform for her club and her entire.

She firmly believes in the transformative power of small acts of kindness, especially when directed towards less fortunate children. Her unwavering dedication to the Kiwanis mission has made her a beacon of hope, continually striving to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Evangeline “Gigi” Chan Chu was appointed as a Director of Philippine South District of Kiwanis International for 2022-23 by Kiwanis International Executive Board.
