Evangeline “Gigi” Chan Chu is appointed as a Director of Philippine South District of Kiwanis International for 2022-23.
Gigi joined Kiwanis in October 2014. She begun her volunteer work since then, served as president for two terms for her mother club – Kiwanis Club of Geo-Ormoc from 2016 to 2018, and she became a Kiwanis Life Member in 2018. In 2019, Gigi became the Division 1B first Lieutenant Governor. She founded the first internet-based club in the Philippine South – Kiwanis Club of Leyte Digital Innovators, and she was the first in Philippine South to establish the Service Leadership Program for Aktion Club of Ormoc City and later formed a Circle K of St. Peter’s College of Ormoc City, both as Kiwanis Advisor.
In addition to her mother club – Kiwanis Club of Geo-Ormoc, Gigi is also a member, board member, and advisor of KC Magandang Gensan, KC Leyte Digital Innovators, and a member of KC Kathmandu Classic. She was appointed District Advocate for the Philippine South District Kiwanis Children’s Fund in 2019-20, District Membership Chair in 2020-21, and Special Committee Souvenir Chairperson for ASPAC 2021 that produce the first digital souvenir book for ASPAC 2021. During that year, she introduced and launched her first Digital Kiwanis Manna Cookbook .
Gigi was elected as the Governor-elect for Philippine South District for 2021-22. In 2022, she was able to learn how to create a website and create the first website in the Philippines South, www.kiwanisdigital.com – for her club and now for Philippine South District.
She supported the program of Kiwanis International and the first and only one who enrolled and finished the Kiwanis Amplify modules for Philippine South District. Generosity runs on her blood and she belongs to George Hixson Fellow and Walter Zeller Fellow of Kiwanis Children’s Fund.
She currently resides in Ormoc City, Eastern Visayas, where she performs mostly all of her work and volunteer service for Kiwanis, She is married to Carlson, a businessman and a mother of two daughters, Charmaine Erica and Chiara Eloise. She enjoys traveling, watching movies, and performing voluntary activities in the communities. She always believe that on her little way and small act of kindness she can make a difference to the lives of others specially to the less fortunate children.
