Michel Fongue, a third-generation Tahitian of Chinese descent, has dedicated over four decades to Kiwanis, embodying the organization’s values through leadership and cultural inclusivity.
Joining the Kiwanis Club of Mont Dore in New Caledonia in 1978, Michel has held key roles, including Club President, Lieutenant Governor, and District Governor. His international impact extends to serving as ASPAC Chair, Kiwanis International Trustee, and a pivotal contributor to bylaws and parliamentary committees. His commitment has also fostered growth in his native Tahiti, where he established the first Kiwanis Club, now thriving with 12 active clubs.
Beyond Kiwanis, Michel’s accomplishments include serving as Deputy Mayor of Noumea, President of the Chinese Community Association, and Secretary of the Polynesian Solidarity Association. Professionally, he transitioned from an accomplished career at IBM to entrepreneurship in sports retail. Fluent in multiple languages, Michel champions diversity and multiculturalism as cornerstones of a unified and global Kiwanis community.
