In celebration of Earth Day, Kiwanis members from the Christchurch and North West Christchurch Clubs in the New Zealand and South Pacific District joined for a Tree Planting Day organized by Conservation Volunteers NZ and Christchurch City Council (CCC). Together, they planted an astounding 500 trees within just one hour!
The event, held on a picturesque day in Christchurch, drew an impressive crowd eager to volunteer. The chosen site, the Red Zone area near Horseshoe Lake, holds special significance as a beloved spot for leisurely walks. However, following the earthquakes and subsequent demolitions, the area has been in dire need of rejuvenation. The addition of native trees not only enhances its natural beauty but also contributes to its restoration.
