The Global Handwashing Day, celebrated annually around October 15th, highlights the importance of handwashing with soap as a simple, yet powerful, method to prevent diseases and save lives. On October 16th, the Kiwanis Club of Princess Urduja in the Philippine Luzon District, along with the K-Kids Club of Mancup Elementary School, led a hands-on activity with forty nine 3rd Grade students from Mancup Elementary School in Calasiao, Pangasinan, answering the question, "Why Are Clean Hands Still Important?"
The club used materials from Global Handwashing Day, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Learnplaytv, translating them into Filipino and Pangasinan languages to ensure better comprehension and participation. A creative twist was added to the presentations, along with bookmarks that detailed handwashing steps for students to personalize. After the briefing, the children demonstrated their proper handwashing techniques, receiving soap, towels, and snacks, while the school was gifted liquid soap for their handwashing station.
