The Kiwanis Southern Philippine District launched its Fish Cage Trash Bin project, led by Past ASPAC Chair Ike Altavas, ASPAC Secretary Gigi Chan Chu, and Governor Jimmy Go, during the visit of Kiwanis International President Lee Kuan Yong at Baia Norte Beachfront, San Juan Coast, Baybay, Roxas City in the province of Capiz. A highlight of the event was the visit to the Kiwanis Island Marine Sanctuary.
The creatively designed fish cages serve as trash bins, supporting the Kiwanis Green Generation high impact project by helping to manage waste along the shore. It collects biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste near the seaside, with beachfront businesses assigned to maintain the bins. This initiative promotes sustainable practices, encouraging proper waste disposal and engaging the community in environmental stewardship to keep the shoreline clean.
