School Reading Pantry launched

At Liwayway Elementary School in Mauban, Quezon Province, Philippines, where the 550 students currently study without the benefit of a library, the Kiwanis Club of Lucena Kalilayan of Division 4C in the Philippine Luzon District is making a difference. Understanding that "learning to read is a prerequisite for success in a literate society," the club launched an inspiring project called "4 Ks"—Kalilayan Kadluan ng Kaalaman Korner, also known as the "School Reading Pantry."

This initiative aims to transform a designated area of the school into a welcoming space where young minds can explore the joys of reading and expand their horizons.

The "School Reading Pantry" project focuses on enhancing the school’s environment by creating a space filled with learning materials and equipment designed to support reading interventions. The reading pantry will serve as a much-needed source of knowledge and inspiration for the students, encouraging a love for reading and helping them develop the skills essential for lifelong learning.

The Kiwanis Club of Lucena Kalilayan hopes that this initiative will ignite a passion for reading among students and set them on a path to academic and personal success.
